TUNCAY KAYIŞ - Biography

Born in İzmir 1962. Entered Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, Piano Maintenance Department in 1978. In 1979 joined Ass. Prof. Metin Yalçın’s trombone class at the same school. Graduated from both sections ın 1986. Won the first prize in trombone at the MSU national music competition the same year. Also the same year won the auditions for the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and became principal trombone in 1993.
 

Concentrated in Jazz and other styles of popular music besides classical music. Besides solo concerts, he joined many popular music and jazz concerts with Çukurova, İzmir State Symphony Orchestras and the Presidential Symphony Orchestra as soloist.

Made music in many stages in Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Japan and the USA.

Found the Golden Trombone Popular Music and Jazz Orchestra in 1998. The concerts of the group in Islamabad, Berlin ITB, Moscow and London 1st. Turkish fest has gained big success and good critics.
 
Mr. Kayış is continuing his musical career as the principal trombone of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and has a teaching post at the Middle East Technical University since 1993.
